The Vancouver Canucks finally put an end to their 5-game losing streak. They defeated the Buffalo Sabres by a 5-2 score.

After being down by one goal early, Canucks showed some character and bounce back to end the first period with a one goal lead, after Vrbata scored 2 of his three goals in the first frame. Vrbata finished of his trick with a wicked wrister in the third.

"We were looking for a good performance for a win and to feel a little better about ourselves. Even though it's just one game it's a good start. It always helps when on your first or second shift you get an open net. Then you get a tip there and it seems like everything's falling in place. The last couple games you could see we were not a very confident group. It seemed like every mistake we made, it turned against us. It's good to have a game like that where you have a good performance and you get a result."

Ryan Miller had a great game, stopping 32 pucks against his former team.

Brandon Prust also had a good night, scoring his first goal as a Canuck and added an assist in the win.

"We've talked about getting our confidence back, getting our swagger back where you're going into games and you're feeling like you're going to win. That's what this does. We have been frustrated a little bit with our game," said Prust. "We have done some good things, but haven't been rewarded. It's good to finally be rewarded."

Although the Sabres do not represent a big test for the Canucks, but a win is a win and if it brings confidence to the team, well it is a start.

Canucks will have to prove that this win wasn't a fluke when they play the New York Rangers on Wednesday.
