While it hasn't been the best season for the New York Islanders, the team does have a few things to look forward to in the future.
Youngsters like Oliver Wahlstrom, Noah Dobson and Kiefer Bellows look to be legit NHLers, with Wahlstrom in particular taking a real step forward this season. The 21 year old first round pick (11th overall in 2018) has a stellar eight goals and 15 points in 26 games this season and is well on the way to smashing the 12 goals and 21 points he managed in his rookie campaign last season.
Maybe most impressive though is just how well Wahlstrom uses his 6 foot, 2 inch, 205 pound frame. He's a big man and he's not afraid to throw his weight around.
Case in point, Wahlstrom absolutely LEVELED New Jersey Devils forward Jimmy Vesey tonight, which drew the ire of a few of Vesey's teammates afterward. Wahlstrom handles them no problem and then while he's getting an earful from Devils blueliner P.K. Subban from the bench, Wahlstrom laughs it off and even sticks his tongue out at Subban.
Check it out:
Way to to, P.K.... you're a real tough guy from the bench, eh? How do you plan on slew footing him while you're riding the pine?
