On Tuesday, defenseman Casey Fitzgerald of the Buffalo Sabres and forward Jake Leschyshyn of the Vegas Golden Knights were placed on waivers.

Then on Wednesday, it was announced that both players had been claimed. The New York Rangers claimed Leschyshyn off waivers Wednesday from the Vegas Golden Knights, while Fitzgerald was claimed by the Florida Panthers from the Sabres.

When it comes to Leschyshyn, he unfortunately has no points in 22 games this season. He had two goals and four assists in 41 games last year. He is the 23-year-old son of former NHL defenseman Curtis Leschyshyn.

As for Fitzgerald, the 25-year-old son of New Jersey Devils executive vice president and general manager Tom Fitzgerald, he has put up three assists in 23 games so far this season. He was selected in the third round of the 2016 draft and has appeared in a total of 59 games for the Sabres, tallying zero goals and nine assists.
