Waivers already making headlines!
Bold statement from insider Darren Dreger about the waiver wire:
HockeyFeed
Waivers will open soon as they go into effect 12 days before the start of the regular season.
And while there are still a few days left of inactivity, TSN’s Darren Dreger wants fans to be ready for some surprising news on the wire.
Dreger explained on TSN Edmonton 1260 that we “are going to see some names on that waiver wire that will be surprising.
Seeing that the Montreal Canadiens ended at the bottom of the standings in 2021-22, the club will have priority on all names landing on waivers until November 1st.
Once the deadline is over, the standings will determine on a daily basis which team gets first grab on the wire.
But the fact that Dreger believes surprising names will land on there shortly has to be exciting for the Canadiens, who could be looking at ways to bolster their back end on the waiver wire.
Speaking of waivers, in Montreal, there is a sense that forward Paul Byron could land on there as well. The rumour has been around for weeks and with the opening of waivers around the corner, it could the waiver claim the Habs also have in mind at this time.
We surely get the sense that waivers will be fun to watch in the first weeks of the 2022-23 season! Who lands on there?
