Washington Capitals lose a key player to injury

With how good a season the Washington Capitals have been having, now is not the time to get hit with the injury bug. They have been lucky enough so far but have just been hit with an important injury.

John Carlson who is easily their best defenseman, will be out 3-4 weeks after having a procedure done to repair a "lower body" injury. No details of the exact injury were released. The same injury forced Carlson to miss 12 games during December and January and had forced him out of yesterday's game as well.

Barry Trotz was quoted saying that it was a "nagging thing" that Carlson had to address and that it's possible that their defenseman be placed on IR. If the timeline is right, Carlson should be back for the beginning of the playoffs. He is a huge part of the Capitals and anytime you lose a key player, it can hurt any team. Just ask the Montreal Canadiens.
