From one legend to another! Love moments like this!
The Hockey Hall of Fame has announced its class of 2025, highlighted by NHL superstars Alexander Mogilny, Joe Thornton, Duncan Keith and Zdeno Chara.
Women's game players Jennifer Botterill and Briana Decker, as well as builders Jack Parker and Danièle Sauvageau.
Missing out on the 2025 class are the likes of Carey Price, Ryan Getzlaf, PK Subban and Tuukka Rask amongst first timers, as well as players who have had to wait awhile like Henrik Zetterberg, Patrick Marleau and Rod Brind'Amour.
Finally, finally, FINALLY Mogilny is in the Hall where he belongs. One of the most electric players of his generation, Mogilny was the first player to defect from Russia illegally to join the NHL. He made an immediate impact and was one of the most dangerous offensive players of the 1990s.
I mean... just watch:
I'm a kid of the 90's so I have very fond memories of the man they called 'AlMo'.
As for the rest of the class... how can you argue against any of them?
Both Chara and Keith were dominant defensemen and have multiple Stanley Cups and Norris Trophies between them. Keith even has a Conn Smythe trophy to boot. Simply put, they were two of the best defensemen of the 2000s and 2010s.
Thornton is the only player you can really make an argument against due to his glaring lack of playoff success, but there's no denying his place as one of the game's all-time greatest playmakers. He ranks 7th all-time in career assists, just ahead of Adam Oates and just behind Paul Coffey, two all-time greats.
Even better? Thornton is an all time beauty.
Just listen to him get the call from the Hall earlier today:
Certified, beauty! First ballot Hall of Famer!
Congrats to these four men and to Decker, Botterill, Parker and Sauvageau on outstanding, Hall of Fame worthy careers.
