The current global pandemic has led to things like the National Hockey League season being shut down and although that is frustrating, there are also far more serious concerns impacting people all around the world as a result of this deadly virus known as COVID-19. Hundreds of thousands of people have fallen victim to the virus but even those who have not been directly impacted by it have also suffered as a result of the tight restrictions that have been imposed on all of our lives.

Despite his fame and fortune one such person is none other than National Hockey League legend Wayne Gretzky who has been prohibited from seeing his father Walter Gretzky, due to the health concerns that have stemmed from the pandemic. As you all will know Father's Day is just a day away at this point and many among us will either be prevented from seeing our fathers due to social distancing guidelines or simply because they are at the age where being infected by the virus is far more likely to cause serious health complications. Gretzky is among those who will be dealing with this on Sunday, something that he is clearly not happy about, but with him being unable to see his father this year he went the extra mile to let the man know how important he is in his life.

Gretzky published a short, 30 second, video on his social media over the weekend and teamed up with Canadian staple Tim Horton's in order to provide his father with a special surprise. Narrating the short clip was Gretzky himself who had recorded a message to his father, a message that was then played for Walter on an Ipad, and following the playing of that clip a Tim Horton's truck showed up outside Walter's home in order for him to enjoy a "Tim's run" presumably a part of his normal routine prior to the whole world shutting down.

It was unquestionably a beautiful message from a son to his father and hopefully it will inspire some of you guys and gals out there to do something similar for your dad tomorrow.
