Dale Weise never expected to get a call from the Montreal Canadiens, asking him to come up from Laval to be in the lineup tonight as the Habs host the Tampa Bay Lightning.

When he stepped onto the ice, the veteran forward knew he needed to make a strong impression in order to stay with the team.

That’s why in the first period of the contest, Weise decided that the best way to prove he was a good team player and willing to do it all for the club, he challenged big goon Pat Maroon to a fight.

Weise managed to keep up with a man that is 30 pounds heavier than him and was not sent to the ice by Maroon. The fight lasted quite a while as both men were then sent to the dressing room at the end of the battle.

After the fight as Weise ended down to the tunnel, it was clear that his teammates appreciate his fight and courage and he received a standing ovation from the Bell Centre crowd.

That’s a great way to get noticed by the team management and Marc Bergevin, Dale!
