The All Star break is often a time where we watch some of the best players from each team have some fun and it gives everyone else some rest before the last stretch of the season begins.

For the Bruins, the heart break of missing the playoffs by 2 points is still there and the B's will want to put that in the past and once again make a push at getting their hands on the Stanley Cup. The last 2 1/2 months of the season is never an easy time. All the teams are fighting for their playoff lives and every game is a war, especially against your conference rivals where every point earned or lost is huge.

The Bruins are currently 6th in the eastern conference. However, they are only 2 points up on New Jersey who is in 9th but Boston has a game in hand.

So what exactly will it take for the Bruins to make the playoffs? If we take last season as an example, the Pittsburgh Penguins earned the last playoff spot with 98 points. We will use that as what the Bruins will need. Boston has 33 games left and will need 41 points over that span to reach the 98 point mark. That would mean that they will have to go 20-12-1 the rest of the way. It isn't impossible, but it won't be easy either. The Bruins are 5-4-1 in their last 10 and will need to be more consistent.

The East is so tight this year that a 3 game losing streak could put your right out of the playoff race. As long as Boston can continue playing some solid hockey with Patrice Bergeron leading the way, the B's should be able to make it back to where they belong, the Stanley Cup playoffs.
