The Florida Panthers had a franchise-best 103 points last season only to find themselves bowing out of the 2015-2016 playoffs in six games at the hands of the New York Islanders.
In order to build off a successful regular-season, the Panthers brought in Keith Yandle, Jason Demers, and Mark Pysyk in order to improve their blue line.
Head coach Gerard Gallant told NHL.com:
“I think we increased our talent level, our speed, puck movement from the back end.”
Moreover, they’ve made improvements to their goaltending by signing James Reimer to a 5-year contract. Reimer will be expected to start the season en lieu of an injured Roberto Luongo.
This franchise boasts a healthy balance between youth and veteran leadership, thanks in part to the ageless Jaromir Jagr.
