The Minnesota Wild aren't having the start to the campaign that they envisioned, finding themselves a game below the .500 mark as they head into Buffalo to take on the Sabres.

However, they're getting a crucial reinforcement back into their lineup this evening. Captain Jared Spurgeon, who has yet to suit up in the regular season after suffering injury during the exhibition, will be making his season debut.

From the official press release:

"The Minnesota Wild has announced that Captain D Jared Spurgeon has been activated from Long-Term Injured Reserve today. Spurgeon, 33, was injured in the preseason and will make his 2023-24 season debut tonight against the Sabres in Buffalo.

The Wild has also reassigned D Daemon Hunt to Iowa of the American Hockey League. Hunt, 21, made his NHL debut with the Wild on Oct. 27 against the Capitals in Washington. He has played in five games this season and averages 8:36 TOI."

Last season in 79 games played, Spurgeon scored 11 goals and 23 assists and also boasted an impressive +32 plus/minus rating.
