Rumblings of yet another huge trade from the Minnesota Wild.
The Minnesota Wild made an extremely bold move this season when they pulled off a massive trade to acquire star defenseman Quinn Hughes from the Vancouver Canucks. It was a move that signalled that Wild general manager Bill Guerin is looking to go all in this season, and there are now new rumblings that lend credence to that belief.
National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed that Guerin is currently dangling one of the Wild's goaltenders in an attempt to bolster his roster ahead of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
"Mike Russo put out [Jesper] Wallstedt's name in Minnesota," said Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast. "I think Minnesota may have tried that once already."
The news will likely come as quite a surprise given how well Wallstedt has played for the Wild this season with a 2.66 goals against average and a .914 save percentage over 21 appearances for the Wild this season. That being said, Friedman believes Guerin is willing to move him to help improve his team up the middle of the ice.
"We all know the Wild are gonna try to get another player, probably a center, we're all sitting there saying 'What is he gonna use?' I think that might be the guy," revealed Friedman.
No word yet on what teams may be involved here, but it's not too hard to look around the National Hockey League and see which teams are currently struggling badly in goal.
