Wild forced to delay flight to Montreal over potential Covid concerns.
Bad timing for the Wild.
The Minnesota Wild may have a bit of a problem on their hands, and the timing of it is rather unfortunate.
Although it has not been officially confirmed by the Wild as of yet, Minnesota Wild insider Mike Russo is reporting that the Wild have been forced to push back their original flight to Montreal. Russo did not confirm the reason for that delay, but did express that it is his suspicion that this is somehow related to Covid-19.
A positive Covid test will make traveling to Canada a headache for the Wild, but beyond that the last thing the team wants on their hands is an outbreak of the virus in their locker room just a few short weeks before the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup Playoffs are set to begin.
One of the issues for the Wild when it comes to traveling to Canada now is that, should they wish to replace a missing player on their roster, they will need to get anyone they wish to call up to Minnesota and charter that player directly to Montreal. When you consider that the Wild are set to play the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday at 7 pm EST, that leaves very little time for the Wild to adjust to this news.
Update: Russo has now confirmed, via a source, that the Wild do in fact have at least 1 player on their roster that has tested positive for Covid.
Now that we know for certain at least 1 player is out due to Covid it will be very interesting to see if the Wild make any last minute call ups before heading to Montreal to face the Canadiens tomorrow.
Still no word on the identity of the player who is believed to have tested positive for Covid.
At the time of this writing the Minnesota Wild have still not as of yet officially confirmed or denied that they have indeed had a positive test result on their roster, we will update this story when/if they do so.
