Wild has decided the fate of Marc-Andre Fleury!

Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin has gone back and forth, but according to Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman, the decision has been made NOT to trade beloved goalie Marc-Andre Fleury ahead of the March 8 trade deadline.

“One important development as we head towards the trade deadline: Minnesota has indicated it will not move Marc-Andre Fleury. They are happy to keep him.”

It was getting clearer how Fleury, whose contract holds a no-trade clause, would be the one making the decision on his future ahead of the deadline. Earlier this month in a French interview with TVA Sports, Fleury has indicated his desire to stay in Minnesota.

“Every year, when players’ contracts come to an end, names of pending free agents always come up in the rumors to be on the move. For me, my team is Minnesota. We have such a good group of guys and great chemistry. I’ve been here for over two seasons. I’m not thinking about leaving or going somewhere else. I want to continue to fight with my team to try to make the postseason.”

Ahead of Wednesday night’s action, Minnesota sits sixth in the Central division and is currently six points away from the last Wild Card playoff spot in the Western conference, held by the Nashville Predators at this time. The Wild and Fleury still have a shot at the postseason, and the goalie wants to be part of that moving forward.

There is still no indication that Flower will hang up the pads after this season as he will enter free agency, but the veteran player had previously voiced his struggles with past trades.

In recent years, Fleury has known all too well about the trade deadline chaos when he was moved to the Wild at the 2022 trade deadline after a controversial move from the Vegas Golden Knights to the Chicago Blackhawks in the summer of 2021.

He wants to stay put in Minnesota and the Wild and its management are just happy to oblige.
