Wild in talks with two veteran free agents.

The main priority for Minnesota Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher has to be resigning his key restricted free agents this summer, a list of players that includes Mikael Granlund, Nino Niederreiter and Marcus Foligno.

That however does not mean Fletcher isn't looking at every available option for his organization, and in fact it appears the Wild have already reached out to at least two veteran unrestricted free agents.

From Mike Russo of the Star Tribune(emphasis our own):

Fletcher declined to comment on any specific free agent. But the Wild has spoken with center Matt Cullen, who is deciding whether to return for a 20th season or retire. The Wild also has spoken with the agent of Drew Stafford, who's interested in playing for the Wild.

Cullen is coming off a Stanley Cup Championship with the Penguins and it's not even certain he will return to the NHL next season. Stafford, a former first round pick, on the other hand is coming off a respectable season that saw him record 21 points in 58 games split between the Winnipeg Jets and Boston Bruins, and there's no reason to believe he won't play next season.

It's unclear how far along the Wild are in these talks or if they intend to sign both or just one of these forwards, however given that they play different positions it's certainly possible they could be looking to add both.
