Wild lose a defenseman to a rival team for nothing.

The Minnesota Wild have just lost some depth on the blue line.

According to a breaking news report from Wild insider Michael Russo, the Wild have just lost defenseman Daemon Hunt after they placed Hunt on waivers on Friday. Hunt was just one of two players waived on Friday, the other being Winnipeg Jets defenseman Jack St. Ivany.

Hunt has been a valuable player for the Wild in spite of the fact that they chose to waive him this week, with Hunt having already appeared in 11 games this season for the Wild. He's played significant minutes in those games as well, averaging over 14 minutes a night this season for the Wild.

Making matters even worse however is who has claimed Hunt, with the 24 year old defenseman now headed to the Nashville Predators. The Predators are of course Central Division rivals and, although the Predators have not been as competitive in recent years, these two teams have developed some serious animosity over their many years of going head to head in the division. This latest move by the Predators will surely only add more fuel to that fire.

What makes this even more unfortunate for the Wild is the fact that Hunt is a homegrown prospect, having been seleted by the Wild in the 3rd round (65th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
