When the announcement came down that GM Chuck Fletcher had made a move to swap a third round pick for Coyotes netminder Devan Dubnyk, many felt it was a death knell for the Wild's season. It's hard to blame those fans, Dubnyk was coming off two terrible season in Edmonton and Nashville respectively, and he was a bit of a reclamation project in Arizona this season. However the reality is the move may have saved the Wild's season. Devan Dubnyk may very well be the Wild's savior, his number over his first three games are more akin to those one would see on a Vezina trophy winner. Dubnyk has posted an insane 0.940 save percentage and an equally impressive 1.35 goals against average. The best part is Chuck Fletcher didn't have to mortgage the future, he only gave up a third round pick and not only did he acquire Devan "The Savior" Dubnyk, he sent a clear message to the rest of the team, a message that clearly let everyone know the level of compete on the ice was unacceptable. The Wild still have a long way to go to make it to the postseason but if Devan Dubnyk comes even close to maintaining this level of play he will be the steal of this NHL season.
