Wild's Boudreau took a huge risk ahead of tonight's game against the Canucks

This is an epic story.

The Minnesota Wild is facing the Vancouver Canucks later tonight and Bruce Boudeau's team better be ready for it. The Wild have had a lot of issues over the last few seasons finding a way to get a win over the Canucks on the road in Vancouver and are hoping that a victory tonight will put an end to their current skid that has reached a 6-14 record in their last 20 trips.

Head coach Boudreau shouldn't be taking any risk ahead of this important matchup, however, he did just that last night, taking a huge risk with his own life.

On a regular basis, the Wild head coach isn't shy about expressing his mind behind the bench, and it seems like the 63-year-old man does not have a problem doing it everywhere else. Even when urgent matters come up.

During his stay in Vancouver ahead of tonight's matchup, the team experienced a fire alarm in the hotel where they were staying at 2 in the morning, and although guests were asked to leave the building, Boudreau wasn’t having any of it. Even if the alarm blasted off for more than 30 minutes.

Why?

The Wild head coach wanted nothing to do with having to walk down the 15 flights of stairs.

“I wasn’t going to walk down 15 flights of stairs. I didn’t smell any smoke. I said, ‘I’m chancing it.”

Everybody else in the hotel were evacuated for an hour. Boudreau stayed in bed. It seems like he was right, the alarm went off and nothing tragic took place at the hotel following the hour-long evacuation.

However, it remains one huge risk from Boudreau's part, and one epic story to tell media members ahead of tonight's game. Let's hope it brings the Wild some luck in Vancouver as they face the Canucks later on today.
