Wild loading up on prospects!
David Spacek, son of long-tiime NHLer Jaroslav Spacek, has signed an three year, entry-level contract stating in the 2023-24 season with the Minnesota Wild.
The 20 year old defenseman is playing out the season with the QMJHL's Sherbrooke Phoenix where he has 10 goals and 46 points in 49 games so far this season. He was selected by the Wild in the 5th round (153rd overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
David's father Jaroslav managed 880 career NHL games split between the Florida Panthers, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers, Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes. David was born during his father's time with the Blue Jackets, but grew up mostly during Jaroslav's time with the Sabres and then the Canadiens. If David's career turns out anything close to how his father's did then Wild fans should be very intrigued by his potential.
