Nylander issues public statement after a terrible season for the Maple Leafs.
There is a ton of uncertainty surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs after what was something of a nightmare season for the franchise. That uncertainty permeates at every level of the organization with general manager Brad Treliving fired prior to the end of the season and question marks surrounding the futures of the organization's top stars.
On Saturday, the Maple Leafs and their fan base were perhaps given something of a reprieve when star forward William Nylander took to social media to issue a statement about his future with the franchise. Nylander made it clear that he intends to return to Toronto next season despite the adversity he and the team faced this past season, expressing both his love for the franchise and his excitement at returning for another season as a Maple Leaf.
"Love the blue and white love the fellas love leafs nation i can’t wait for next season:)" wrote Nylander in an off-season Instagram message.
The message was accompanied by a photograph of Nylander walking down a dark tunnel lit with blue light while wearing his full Maple Leafs gear. It also featured several photos of Nylander alongside his teammates and celebrating with the fans, yet another indication that Nylander has no intention at all of going anywhere anytime soon.
While that will no doubt reassure a great many fans, there are still plenty of other questions to answer about what the future holds for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
