The Red wIngs are on a bad losing streak. They have faced defeat in their last 6 games. The powerplay isn't working, key elements of the offense are struggling, the goaltenders are having lots of trouble keeping the puck out of the net. Fans do not know who or where to point their figure at anymore.

As if the situation wasn't bad enough for the rebuilding Red Wings, the team has announced today that three of their veteran players are affected by injuries.

Danny DeKeyser just got back from a previous injury, but he will be out for about 2 weeks. Luke Glendening will be out of the lineup for a longer period: 2 weeks to a month. Finally, long-time Red Wing Justin Abdelkader is a day-to-day decision as he is also bothered by an injury.

This has the potential to leave three gaping holes in an already thin depth chart for the Red Wings. it will be interesting to see if Christoffer Ehn will be inserted into the lineup or if the likes of Filip Zadina, Michael Rasmussen and Mortiz Seider could be called up to the team.

One thing is for sure, seeing some hot young prospects integrate the lineup might appease fans who are at the verge of throwing the towel for this season. The Red Wings will nonetheless try to end their losing streak at 6 despite the injuries to their veterans as they face the Buffalo Sabres this afternoon.
