Wings have to be on their best behaviour tonight in Dallas

How will it affect their game?

The Detroit Red Wings had better be on their best behavior tonight.

No, seriously. Their moms are all going to be watching.

This is the team’s second go-around in bringing along their moms on a road trip; the previous year this was done was the 2015-16 season. Every season since 2005-06, the team has brought parental figures on a road swing.

It’ll be a battle tonight in Dallas against the Stars at American Airlines Center, who are fresh off their 4-2 victory in the 2020 NHL Winter Classic at the historic Cotton Bowl over the Nashville Predators.

The Red Wings, meanwhile, will be looking to build some momentum after their 2-0 shutout victory over the San Jose Sharks at Little Caesars Arena on New Year’s Eve.

Jonathan Bernier is expected to get the nod in the crease tonight following his first shutout of the season, and 14th of his career. Dallas will be without forward Corey Perry, who will almost certainly be suspended for his vicious elbow to the head of Nashville’s Ryan Ellis.

Here are Detroit’s anticipated line combinations:

Bertuzzi - Larkin - Fabbri
Smith - Filppula - Zadina
Helm - Nielsen - Glendening
Erne - Ehn - Abdelkader

Nemeth - Hronek
Bowey - Daley
Beiga - Green

Bernier (starting)
