Wings have to trust Howard tonight...
Zuma Press

The Detroit Red Wings will look to bounce back from Sunday’s 5-1 loss at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres when they head to Long Island for a matchup with the New York Islanders at historic Nassau Coliseum.

For Detroit, they’ll need a rebound game from goaltender Jimmy Howard. He’s in the starters role once again following an injury to Jonathan Bernier that’ll keep him out at least through the All-Star break.

Calvin Pickard has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins in the meantime to serve as backup. Howard’s record this season isn’t pretty to look at with just two wins, fifteen losses and an OT loss.

But it’s his goals-against-average that really raises some eyebrows. His allowing of 4.10 goals per game is the most of any goalie in the NHL who has played at least ten games this year. Ouch.

Here are tonight’s anticipated line combinations for Detroit:

Bertuzzi - Larkin - Fabbri
Erne - Filppula - Zadina
Helm - Nielsen - Glendening
Smith - Ehn - Abdelkader

Nemeth - Green
Bowey - Hronek
Lashoff - Biega

Howard (starting)
Pickard
