Wings hold off Sabres to pick up two huge points

The Red Wings were able to keep pace with the Flyers who also won tonight by beating the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo made a late charge in the third period but the Wings were able to hold them off and won 3-2.

With only 6 games for the Wings, every game left is pretty much a must win. The game in hand the Flyers hold is what is dangerous. The Wings will want to do what they can so they can decide their own fate, but they will most likely need a bit of help to assure themselves of that final wild card spot. Unfortunately Detroit had went through a lull at the wrong time but they have fought back and are till tied with the Flyers with 87 points. Philadelphia currently holds the final spot due to their game in hand.

Tomorrow the Wings take on the struggling Montreal Canadiens who will look to play spoiler. Detroit beat them last Thursday but let them come back with three 3rd period goals after going up 4-0. The Wings will need a more consistant effort to make sure they pick up another two points against the Canadiens.
