Winnipeg acquire big shot RFA defenseman in trade!

The Winner Jets have acquired the signing rights to defenseman Dylan Coghlan from the Carolina Hurricanes. The right shot blue liner is a restricted free agent and is owed a new contract.

The return for Coghlan is not yet known, though Tony Androckitis believes that it is a conditional seventh round draft pick going back to Carolina.

Coglan first came to Carolina in 2022 from the Vegas Golden Knights in the Max Pacioretty trade, played 17 games for Carolina last season and had three assists in 17 games. He played 59 games for the Golden Knights during the 2021-22 campaign. 

The blue liner took part in just one contest in 2023-24 with thw Hurricanes and did not record a point. He however played 61 games with the Springfield Thunderbirds of the AHL, posting 16 goals and 41 points.

He is known to have a hard shot, and is likely to help the Jets on the power-play.
