We recieved confirmation Monday that the Boston Bruins will host the 2016 Winter Classic. The Bruins will host the Montreal Canadiens in the game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, the Boston home of the New England Patriots. With the announcement will come legions of angry Minnesota Wild fans as this is the second time the Bruins will play host to The Winter Classic while Minnesota has yet to get a single outdoor game. Owner Craig Leopold is confident the Wild will play host to an outdoor game eventually, despite the NHL's latest snub. "Gary [Bettman] is completely with us in this. Everything has to come together to make it work, and I think we're there. I would expect in the near future that we will get it." Here are all the outdoor games that the NHL has held, along with their locations since 2003. 2003: Edmonton Oilers, Commonwealth Stadium (CFL) 2008: Buffalo Sabres, Ralph Wilson Stadium (NFL) 2009: Chicago Blackhawks, Wrigley Field (MLB) 2010: Boston Bruins, Fenway Park (MLB) 2011: Pittsburgh Penguins, Heinz Field (NFL) 2011: Calgary Flames, McMahon Stadium (CFL) 2012: Philadelphia Flyers, Citizens Bank Park (MLB) 2014: Detroit Red Wings, Michigan Stadium (NCAA) 2014: Vancouver Canucks, BC Place (CFL/MLS) 2014: Los Angeles Kings, Dodger Stadium (MLB) 2014: New Jersey Devils, Yankee Stadium (MLB) 2014: New York Islanders, Yankee Stadium (MLB) 2014: Chicago Blackhawks, Soldier Field (NFL) 2015: Washington, D.C., Nationals Park (MLB) *2015: San Jose Sharks, Levi's Stadium (NFL) There is really no excuse as to why the Wild have not had an outdoor game yet. Considering the fanbase the Wild possess, this latest snub is a slap to our collective faces, and Wild fans are less than pleased.
