The Columbus Blue Jackets have just confirmed some truly devastating news.

According to an official announcement, 21 year old forward Kent Johnson will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The injury occurred during a game against the New York Rangers last week and while it is not exactly clear how Johnson was injured, the injury appears to have occurred during a faceoff at center ice.

Here is a look at the clip that appears to show the injury:

The Blue Jackets have announced that Johnson will now undergo surgery at some point next week to repair his damaged shoulder, but they have not established a timeline for his recovery.

Johnson, the Blue Jackets first round pick (5th overall) at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, has been a regular fixture of the Blue Jackets offense for the past 2 seasons and this will be a significant blow to a team that has already had its fair share of struggles this season.
