Xhekaj brothers' mother shares emotional post just before tonight's game

There will be plenty of storylines to watch when the Montreal Canadiens take on the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday night, but few will be more meaningful to the Xhekaj family.

After being a healthy scratch for Montreal's first two games of the season, Florian Xhekaj is finally getting his opportunity. The 22-year-old forward will replace the injured Ivan Demidov and make his season debut on the fourth line alongside Jake Evans and Josh Anderson.

But what makes the moment even more special is who will be on the ice with him.

Florian will play alongside his older brother, defenceman Arber Xhekaj, during the Canadiens' home opener—a moment their mother clearly understands the significance of.

“GOOD LUCK 🤞 TO OUR BOYS ❤️,” she wrote in an emotional social media post. “Dreams come true and one of theirs will come true tonight.”

She continued by calling it an “incredible moment” for the Xhekaj family, adding that her “heart is overflowing with gratitude and appreciation.”

For Florian, the excitement was already building after the morning skate.

“I was pretty pumped when I found out I was playing,” he told reporters. “I’ve been to a few of these season openers watching my brother, so I know how special, how cool it is. So to be a part of it is going to be awesome.”

Now, he'll get to experience that moment himself—with his brother beside him.

For a family that has already watched Arber establish himself in Montreal, tonight represents another unforgettable chapter.
