Yet another goalie off the trade market due to injury?

Uh oh...

In case you missed it earlier today, the Pittsburgh Penguins placed forward and pending unrestricted free agent Jake Guentzel on injured reserve. He'll be on the IR for four weeks, one week past the NHL's March 8th trade deadline.

This obviously puts a giant wrench into the Penguins' trade deadline plans as it's not clear yet whether Guentzel will still be in play and what his trade value might be even if he is in play.

Well... copy all of that for Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson, as well.

Gibson left tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators with an upper body injury.

From the Ducks' official Twitter account:

The 30 year old netminder has three years remaining on a deal that pays him $6.4 million annually.

For our earlier published report on Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel and the injury that may take him off the trade block, read below.

This just in, the Pittsburgh Penguins have placed forward and pending unrestricted free agent Jake Guentzel on injured reserve. He'll be on the IR for four weeks, one week past the NHL's March 8th trade deadline.

Check it out:

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forwards Jonathan Gruden, Vinnie Hinostroza and Valtteri Puustinen from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas.

Forward Jake Guentzel has been placed on Injured Reserve. Guentzel is expected to miss up to four weeks with a projected return to the Penguins in early March.

Guentzel, of course, is a hot commodity on the trade market so it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
