This is not fiction. On Sunday, New Hampshire Mountain Kings defenseman Yahor Ramanau was arrested during the first intermission in an NAHL game against the Johnstown Tomahawks. He was taken away in handcuffs from 1st Summit Arena.
There was a warrant to his name for aggravated assault by vehicle. According to records, Ramanau was held at Cambria County Prison in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, before being released on bond. He had been on the run since, and kept playing hockey for the Mountain Kings, where he played four contests in the club’s inaugural season as an expansion team in the NAHL in 2023-24. He had yet to register a point. The outstanding warrant issued two years ago caught up with him.
The incident trended even more when fans discovered that the arrest took place 1st Summit Arena at Cambria County War Memorial, the home of the fictional Charlestown Chiefs in the 1977 film “Slap Shot.”
Ramanau is acting like one of the characters from the epic movie!
