It was the start of a good night for Yaroslav Alexeyev of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the QMJHL on Friday, however, it all turned for the worst quickly.

The 20-year-old helped his team take a 2-0 lead with the second goal of the game as the Drakkar took on the Moncton Wildcats in the fourth game of the series. He added another goal later on to bring the game to 3-1. He however did not end up celebrating his team's 5-2 victory as he was stretched off the ice after a brutal push into the boards towards the end of the contest.

Wildcats' Aleksi Anttalainen came in behind Alexeyev and hit him with the shoulder, however the play was so quick that the poor Drakkar winger ended up crashing into the boards, drilling his neck and head so hard you just knew he was seriously injured.

Alexeyev exited the game on a stretcher and brought to the local hospital. Anttalainen got a five-minute boarding penalty and was ejected from the contest.

Here is the video of the hit. It is quite graphic

The Drakkar might have won 5-2 over the Wildcats and taken a 3-1 lead in the series, the bigger concern now is about Alexeyev's condition...
