Young Russian hockey player found dead at 21 years old.
A tragic incident has taken the life of a young member of the hockey community far too early.
A young Russian hockey player has been found dead and some media outlets are questioning the details surrounding his death.
A recent report from French language news outlet TVA Sports has revealed that 21 year old former Kontinental Hockey League forward, Georgi Savin, has been found in the City of Ryazan a suburb of Moscow.
Savin was developing with HC Vityaz at the time of his death, also referred to as Hockey Club Vityaz Moscow Region, and had 13 KHL games under his belt from the 2022 season.
That same outlet highlights the fact that just last week, former KHL player Dmitry Tarasov was reported dead at just 44 years old, with the circumstances around his death. The outlet even goes so far as to speculate that the Russian mafia could potentially be involved, citing assassinations of Russian hockey players in the 1990s as evidence of the fact that this has transpired in the past.
Many Russian hockey players are believed to have died under seemingly unusual circumstances in the last several years, and a list of 30 names has been compiled here to underscore that point.
Regardless of whether or not Savin's death was genuinely a suicide or a result of foul play, the one thing that is certain is that his life ended far too soon. My condolences go out to his friends, family, and all those who loved him.
