Your Call: Pastrnak at $6.6 per. Good deal or bad deal?

The Boston Bruins have announced that they’ve re-signed 21-year-old Czech born sniper David Pastrnak to a brand new six-year, $40 million deal. The new contract comes with an AAV of just over $6.6 million per season.

Pastrnak had been holding out for a deal similar to the one Edmonton Oilers star Leon Draisaitl signed earlier this offseason for $8.5 million per season, but in the end settled for much less. Pastrnak’s new deal is not all the different from the one signed by Calgary Flames star Johnny Gaudreau in October of 2016. The diminutive winger signed a six-year, $40.5 million deal just days after the regular season started after holding out for big money all season long.

Another comparable is Nashville Predators sniper Filip Forsberg signed a six-year, $36 million deal with the Preds last offseason after breaking out for 33 goals and 64 points the previous campaign. 

So, how does Pastrnak’s deal stack up? Clearly he’s on a better contract than Draisaitl, but does he belong with the likes of Gaudreau and Forsberg? The 21-year-old appears to be trending upwards, so the deal could really be a steal for the team in a few seasons. What do you think? Good deal or bad deal?
