In their latest instalment of their Top 25 Under 25 series Toronto Maple Leafs blog Pension Plan Puppets has ranked last season’s uber rookies Auston Matthews, William Nylander and Mitch Marner 1-2-3. While that’s hardly surprising, the order of ranking may be to some Leafs fans.
Matthews is obviously number one, there’s nobody arguing that point. But, interestingly enough the 12 person panel ranked Nylander ahead of Marner in their final rankings. What do you think? Who’s the better player? Marner or Nylander?
The dynamic duo put up staggeringly similar statistics during their respective rookie campaigns. While Nylander’s 22 goals edged out Marner’s 19, Marner’s 42 assists edged out Nylander’s 39. In the end they both ended up with 61 points on the campaign. There’s no denying that this is a tough call, but who has your pick?
