Zadorov facing suspension for hit to the head of Raymond.
Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov is facing a suspension for his hit to the head of Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond.
The Vancouver Canucks were without the services of defenseman Nikita Zadorov for much of Saturday's game against the Detroit Red Wings, and now it sounds like they may have to move forward without Zadorov for a little while longer.
The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has announced that Zadorov will face a hearing for the hit that he delivered to the head of Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond during the course of today's game. The replay leaves no doubt about the fact that there was significant head contact on the play, but thankfully Raymond was able to return to the game and does not appear to have been injured.
As I mentioned in our original story on this incident, the league has been quick to hand down punishment on hits to the head this season and it seems now that Zadorov will be no exception. There's no telling how many games the disciplinary arm of the NHL is looking to hand down to Zadorov here, but for now you can take a look at the replay and judge for yourselves:
