It might feel like a long time ago, seeing that we miss action so much, but we all remember when David Ayres became a hockey hero. The emergency goaltender, who serves as the Toronto Marlies’ Zamboni driver, suited up for the Carolina Hurricanes after both of their goaltenders got hurt back on Feb. 22. Ayres helped the Canes defeat his home team with a final score of 6-3, an NHL first.

Since then, he’s been a guest on late night talk shows, his hockey stick is on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame, and he was in Raleigh, N.C. for David Ayres Day.

He is so famous that some wonder if there is a movie that should be made about his aforementioned life-changing event.

When asked about the possibility of being played on the big screen, Ayres revealed to Spittin’ Chiclets that he has one name in mind. And that’s not just anybody.

“Maybe Ryan Reynolds would be a good guy.”

Now, we can say Ayres has the looks of Reynolds, but we sure saw an easygoingness and a great attitude that fits just right with the Canadian actor.

And Renoylds is Canadian! He’s gotta have some hockey moves!
