Zeev Buium quickly makes a good first impression on his new team.
The Vancouver Canucks fan base was dejected when it was announced last week that star defenseman Quinn Hughes had been dealt to the Minnesota Wild, but they won't be feeling down for very long if one piece of that trade deal has anything to say about it.
On Sunday, the Canucks faced off against the New Jersey Devils in their first game since the trade went down and it wasn't long before the trade began to look like it was already paying off for the Canucks.
It has been 20 year old defenseman Zeev Buium who has been the star of the show today with the young defenseman who was acquired as part of the return for Quinn Hughes contributing on the Canucks first two goals of the game. Buium played the role of set up man in this one, feeding the puck to Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk who would bury it to give the Canucks an early 1-0 lead.
Only moments later Buium would do it again, although this time he would be credited with the goal. It looked like another setup from Buium however who sent the puck in the direction of Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon who would whack at the puck in an attempt to clear it but deflected it into his own net in the process.
You honestly couldn't ask for a better start from Buium who has some really big skates to fill as a player being viewed as one of the players the Canucks got back for Quinn Hughes.
