Over the past 10 years, 15 New York Rangers have filed for arbitration, that includes the likes of Ryan Callahan, Mats Zuccarello and Chris Kreider. All of their cases were settled outside of court hours before arbitration.

But it could be different for Mika Zibanejad's case.

Set to face arbitration tomorrow morning, restricted free-agent Zibanejad is asking for a one-year $5.35 million contract, that's according to New York Post sports writer Larry Brooks

Brooks explains that Zibanejad is asking for a one-year contract so that he can go back to arbitration next year hoping he'll have better stats to show for as he was injured and played 56 games last season.

The Rangers offered him $4.1 million this past Sunday.

A first-round draft pick in 2011, Zibanejad had 9 points in 12 playoffs games this past seaso. He played in 337 NHL games in which he collected 188 points.

Zibanejad will become an unrestricted free agent in 2019.
