Maybe Sportsnet can use all that money to upgrade their streaming now?
This just in, Rogers Communications, parent company of both Sportsnet and the Toronto Blue Jays, have announced that Game 7 of the World Series broke some pretty significant ratings records.
Sportsnet announced that 10.9 million Canadians tuned in for Game 7, making it the most-watched broadcast in history outside of the 2010 Winter Olympics gold medal game.
From Sportsnet:
November 3, 2025 (Toronto) – An average audience of 10.9 million viewers watched Game 7 of the World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers on Sportsnet, Sportsnet+ and Citytv, making it the most-watched Rogers broadcast ever. It also becomes the most-watched English-language broadcast on record in Canada outside of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Overall, 18.5 million Canadian viewers, 45% of Canada’s population, watched some or all of Game 7. Average audience peaked at 14 million around 11:38 p.m. ET when Ernie Clement came to bat with two on and two out in the bottom of the 9th inning. Fans tuned in early and stayed late even after extra innings, with an average of 2.3 million watching Sportsnet’s Blue Jays Central pregame, and an average of 1.2 million staying tuned in to postgame. During primetime on Saturday (8-11 p.m. ET), programming on Rogers properties accounted for 85.6% of all TV tuning in Canada.
The entire World Series averaged 7.5 million viewers, with 23 million Canadians tuning in at some point. The seven World Series broadcasts were the seven most-watched Blue Jays games ever.
The irony is, of course, that Sportsnet's stream dropped out during the game so many viewers were stuck updating their feed feverishly. Here's hoping that Rogers uses some of that revenue to update their garbage app...
