Fans at the Prudential Center on Friday night likely came to the arena in the hopes of seeing their New Jersey Devils take home a victory, but despite the loss they were treated to an incredible show.

Columbus bBue Jackets forward Artemi Panarin had a once-in a generation type of performance when he recorded 5 primary assists, leading his Blue Jackets to a 5 - 3 victory over the Devils.

While the numbers alone make it an incredible performance, it becomes even more amazing when you view it in a historical context. The last player to record 5 primary assists in a single game was none other than well-respected National Hockey League defenseman Brian Leetch.

According to TSN's Stats Centre, Leetch did it as a member of the New York Rangers all the way back in April of 1995 when facing the Pittsburgh Penguins. That means it's been over 22 years since someone managed the feat.

Hats off to Panarin for this amazing performance.
