If you think you’ve seen every strange goal hockey can produce, think again.

Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat delivered one of the most unbelievable tying goals you’ll ever see Thursday night against the Washington Capitals, and somehow it had absolutely nothing to do with skill or strategy.

With the Red Wings pressing late in regulation, DeBrincat dumped the puck into the Capitals’ zone. No one could predict what happened next.

The puck took a perfectly wild bounce off one of the camera holes in the glass and dropped straight in behind Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren, tying the game in the final minute.

Even Lindgren stood frozen in disbelief as the puck crossed the line.

Watch the craziest goal you”ll see here:

The bizarre goal came just 47 seconds after DeBrincat had already scored, making the sequence even more jaw-dropping. A routine dump-in somehow turned into a highlight of the season.

Give the photographer an assist on this one.

Goals like this don’t come around often, and when they do, all you can is shake your head, and watch the replay again and again.

The game went to overtime, but the hockey gods had no more magic left to give Detroit.

The Capitals eventually secured the win, taking the game 4–3 in a shootout. But the ending too was insane. Lindgren had gotten injured at the end of the extra frame, but remained in net for the shootout. It was a gusty effort for the goalie, who allowed two goals on three shots, but since his Capitals teammates scored on all three, Washington won the game.
