Allen gets yanked after just 6 shots on goal.

The St. Louis Blues are a mess right now and things got real ugly for them on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues welcomed the Vancouver Canucks to the Enterprise Center on Sunday and, unfortunately for the fans who paid good money to watch their home team, the team didn't seem to be very inspired to put out much of an effort at all. The Blues were dominated by the Canucks from the game's very first period thanks in part to a very poor showing from veteran goaltender Jake Allen, who admittedly had some pretty poor luck on the day as well.

Things started real bad for the Blues just 2 and a half minutes into the game when a shot from Canucks forward Brock Boeser sailed well over the net. That missed shot would then bounce off the glass and land in Allen's crease, behind the goaltender who couldn't see the puck, only to have Allen himself kick it in as he moved to position himself back in front of his net. The Canucks could be seen laughing at their good fortune but that would unfortunately set the tone for the remainder of the period for the Blues.

A sloppy turnover roughly 13 minutes into the period would result in the puck landing on the stick of dangerous Canucks rookie forward Elias Pettersson and he did not waste the opportunity. Carrying the puck in from the neutral zone all on his own Pettersson did not miss a beat and fired the puck after cutting across the defense, beating Jake Allen on his glove side. It was an auspicious start for Allen and it would only get worse for him unfortunately.

The third and final goal Allen would allow would come off the back of a terrific save from Canucks goaltender Jacob Markstrom at the other end and it was the two previous goal scorers who found themselves in a 2 on 1 rush coming the other way. Boeser would manage to get the puck to Petterson just inside the Canucks blue line and the two young men would then go streaking down the ice together before Pettersson would feed Boeser a perfect pass for the Canucks 3rd goal on just 6 shots.

That marked the end of the night for Allen, but the Blues have already given up 2 more goals since then.
