From the moment Potvin was drafted in the 2nd round, 31st overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1990 National Hockey League entry draft, the Leafs knew he would be the future in goal for the franchise. He was known for his impressive clutch play for the Leafs in playoff scenarios. In 636 career NHL games, Potvin recorded 266 wins and 32 shutouts, all while keeping his career G.A.A below 3.00. His recognizable mask was known to all, and remains a piece of Maple Leafs lore. Since his departure from the Leafs in 1999, the club has had difficulty finding a goalie that matched Potvin's experience and skill. Truly a one of a kind goaltender.
