Mike Babcock despite the loss to Tampa Bay was generally positive when addressing the media following his teams 4-3 defeat. He was generally happy with his team's performance praising specifically Darren Helm and the effort his team made during the five on three penalty kill. He also took the time to express his discontent with the delay of game rule, and felt the penalty the Wings received was not what the spirit of the rule was intended to be. Babcock clearly felt the Red wings, given numerous chances in overtime should have put the game away prior to the shootout. When asked if he will spend more time focusing on the shoot out, something the Wings have struggled with, Babcock simply stated it wasn't a concern due to his belief that the game should not have gone that long.
