Breaking: Late challenge from NHL coach may have cost his team the game.

This seems a lot like an unforgivable decision from a National Hockey League head coach.

On Tuesday night the Philadelphia Flyers blew a two-goal lead late in the third period on the road against the Nashville Predators, largely due to some bad penalties taken by members of the team. The biggest mistake however may belong not to a Flyers' player, but rather on their head coach Dave Hakstol.

With his team giving up the game-tying goal during a five on three penalty kill, Hakstol made the decision to challenge what he felt was an offside on the play, a move that he will likely be thinking about for a long time.

We're not sure what Hakstol saw because based on the replays we were shown there was never anything that came remotely close to conclusive video evidence of an offside, and that is what would have been required to overturn the call on the ice.

The failed challenged would cost the Flyers another two minute minor penalty, and as a result would grant the Predators another five on three man advantage, something they used to score with less than a minute left in the game.
