Breaking News: Ference suspended (VIDEO)

The NHL's Department of Player Safety announced on Monday that Oilers defenceman Andrew Ference has been suspended 3 games for his illegal hit to the head of Vancouver Canucks forward Zack Kassian. The hit was deemed illegal as Ference elevates himself to target Kassian's head. This is the third suspension for Ference since 2012. A repeat offender, he was suspended 1 game for a hit to the head of Mikhail Grabovski during the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs. He was suspended again in 2012 for 3 games after boarding Ryan McDonagh.
