It should come as no surprise the NHL has suspended Marco Scandella of the Minnesota Wild following his second hit to the head in two weeks. This time Scandella has been suspended two games for his hit to the head of Islanders forward  Brock Nelson. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out it was retaliation following a horrific looking injury to his teammate Keith Ballard. Ballard was injured the game following a check from behind that was delivered by the Islanders' Matt Martin. Like most, including the league, I believe Ballard's attempt to turn and avoid contact was the catalyst for his injury, while Scandella clearly intended to target Nelson's head. Scandella was previously fined $2,755.38 for his illegal check on Blues T.J. Oshie. You can see both the hit and the NHL's explanation on why the suspended Scandella here courtesy of the Nation Hockey League.
