Breaking: Star forward hurt bad after knee on knee hit.

This one is going to be hard to justify.

On Thursday night Minnesota Wild forward Nino Niederreiter appeared to take some liberties with the health of Tampa Bay Lightning forward Tyler Johson when he took Johnson out of the game with a knee on knee hit.

Roughly midway through the second period Niederreiter went in for a hit on Johnson along the boards, and while he appeared to have missed the actual hit itself, he stuck his leg out and caught Johnson on the side of the knee, leaving the Lightning forward badly hurt.

Johnson then had to be literally carried off the ice by his teammates.
