He was one of the restricted free agents that many felt could be the target of an offer sheet. On Tuesday the St. Louis Blues' removed that possibility by inking Vladimir Tarasenko to a major 8 year contract worth a reported $60 million dollars. The official report via the St. Louis Blues website perfectly described exactly what Tarasenko means to the club:
The 6-foot, 223-pound forward made his first career NHL All-Star Game appearance in January in Columbus while he was named the League’s Second Star for the month of November. Tarasenko was one of four players to post two hat-tricks this season, while he was the only player to record six game-winning goals, six shootout goals and two overtime goals. In addition, he became just the second Blue in club history (Brett Hull) to score a hat-trick that included a game-winning overtime goal (Oct. 28 vs. Dallas).
Fans in St. Louis can look forward to many more years of highlight reel plays from Tarasenko, like this goal of the year candidate.
