It's decisions like this one that make you wonder exactly how the NHL determines supplemental discipline. According to a recent report from Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sport Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows will receive no additional discipline for his hit on Paul Gaustad  Tuesday night. The reason the lack of punishment is so surprising isn't because of how vicious the hit was, but rather because it was a clear blow to the head of a player who wasn't at any point in possession of the puck on the play.
